Project
DETAILS
This technical life science build-out involved a complete demolition and renovation of the existing Callaway Golf building to serve Quidel’s needs. Significant structural renovations were needed to accommodate the 48,000 sq. ft. mechanical equipment platform built above the ground floor to house the equipment for the 50,000 sq. ft. humidity and temperature-controlled manufacturing environment below. The full scope of work included large open-area and private office spaces, an energy-efficient central plant, two Megawatt generators, an integral RODI system, gas & compressed air distribution systems, and in-house high-pile storage systems for product distribution. The project required strong collaboration with the City of Carlsbad and its’ officials in managing permits and inspections as COVID-19 effects lingered. Prevost facilitated onsite coordination of more than 200 subcontractors daily and was able to fast-track the schedule and complete the project in only 10 months.
